Meet Our Attorneys

Our law firm was founded in 1975 and is now comprised of six attorneys. The Partners are John P. Lichtenegger, Chris N. Weiss, and Scott Fetterhoff. Our associates are Deidre Jewel and Thad Brady. Wayne M. Keller is our Of Counsel attorney. Together the firm has over one hundred years of experience in providing legal representation to the good people of Southeast Missouri.

John Lichtenegger has over thirty-five years of experience representing clients in contract negotiations, real estate, workers' compensation, construction law, estate planning, estate administration, and corporate law.

John P. Lichtenegger
John has been practicing law since he was admitted to the Missouri bar in 1972. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia. John is licensed to practice in all Missouri state courts, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Supreme Court.

John has led a very distinguished career in both the law and public service. He worked as Curator for the four school University of Missouri System from 1985 to 1995, including serving as President in 1992 and 1993. John received the Citation of Merit from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, along with several other awards and recognitions.

John specializes in estate planning, commercial law, construction law, business law, workers' compensation, and real estate.

Chris Weiss has over twenty years of experience handling your personal injury, workers' compensation, social security, agriculture law, estate planning, estate administration, and labor law.

Chris N. Weiss
Chris received his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1988 and the Illinois bar in 1989. Chris is licensed in all Missouri state courts, the United Stated District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Chris has served as president of the Jackson Rotary Club and treasurer for the SEMO District Fair. He has been a board member for the University of Missouri Extension Council and the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Chris also earned a master's degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and taught Agriculture Law as an adjunct professor at Southeast Missouri State University.

Chris specializes in estate planning, probate law, agriculture law, social security, workers' compensation, litigation, and personal injury.

Scott Fetterhoff has twenty years of experience handling family law, divorces, bankruptcy, contract law, creditor law, estate planning, estate administration, and real estate.

Scott graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1990. Scott is licensed in all Missouri state courts and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Scott specializes in family law, domestic relations, bankruptcy, creditor rights, criminal defense, real estate, and estate planning.

Deidre Jewel is an expert bankruptcy and Social Security attorney who can help you through the process under either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

Deidre Jewel
Deidre graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1992 and received her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1995. Deidre then worked for the Missouri State Public Defender’s office for over five years, representing thousands of criminal defendants all over Southeast Missouri. Deidre has previously worked at law firms in Jefferson City and Clayton, Missouri, where she practiced in the areas of domestic relations, workers' compensation defense and insurance defense. Since returning to Cape Girardeau in 2004, Deidre’s practice has been primarily in the area of bankruptcy and Social Security disability. Deidre has filed over 500 bankruptcy cases and has represented hundreds of clients in Social Security disability cases.

Deidre is an active member of the First General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau. She is involved in the Alzheimer’s Association and the Girl Scouts of America. Deidre and her husband Devin have two daughters, Sydnei and Chandler.

Thad Brady
Thad recently joined our law firm after completing a prestigious judicial clerkship for the High Court of American Samoa. Thad received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law where he participated in a national moot court competition and served as an editor on the Elder Law Journal, which also published him as an author.

Thad will be focusing his practice on bankruptcy, criminal defense, and family law. Thad is also very skilled at legal research and is always willing to take on unique and interesting cases.

Wayne M. Keller is an expert criminal defense attorney with decades of experience protecting your rights.

Wayne M. Keller
Wayne has been a practicing criminal defense attorney since graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1997. Prior to his work as an attorney, Wayne spent nearly thirty years leading a distinguished career in the United States Navy, rising from an enlisted man to his final rank of Lieutenant. During his time in the service, Wayne received countless awards, including three Navy Achievement Medals and four Navy Commendation Medals.

Wayne focuses his practice on criminal defense. Wayne remains involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and currently serves as president of the Elks Lodge in Perryville.

Thad Brady is an expert legal researcher who is always willing to take on new cases. His experience with a prestigious clerkship has given him exceptional skills to handle any legal situation.
